1.1 This contest is open to all registered Nikon Club Members (Malaysia citizens) for the
OPEN CATEGORY (aged 18 years old and above as of 1st January 2018)
1.2 open to all students ( STUDENT CATEGORY- School/College/University- A Level, Certificate/Diploma/Degree Course)
2. CONTEST PERIOD
2.1This Contest shall be held (6 calendar months) from 12:00am on Sunday 1st April 2018 to 11:59pm on Sunday 30th September 2018 or such other time that the Organiser shall decide from time to time.
3.1 "WE ARE MALAYSIANS" will be the theme for the duration of this contest for both the categories. Any subject that will portray the daily happenings such as; work, at home, culture and festivals, crafts, heritage, sporting activites, urban and rural lifestyle of Malaysians can be submitted as entries.

K. Azril Ismail
He was a a lecturer from the Department of Photography & Creative Imaging, Faculty of Art & Design, UiTM, Shah Alam, Malaysia. He holds a Doctorate in Philosophy for his visual studies of the Pudu Jail’s Graffiti from the University of Plymouth, & graduated with MA in Art & Design (Fine Art & Technology) and a BFA in Media Studies from Columbus College of Art & Design, Ohio. He had published widely in art & photography magazines and journals for his extensive artworks in regards to the prison studies which had him worked closely with the Malaysian Prison Department.
His previous large scale installation works turned publication; the “Iron Dragons of Malaya” (Project IDoM), which describes the missing heritage of the Malaysian railway life, was a prominently shown in KLPac in 2009 & various other group exhibitions that took him across international level from Singapore to Tokyo & Istanbul.
He is currently pursuing in the early arts of early 19th Century Photographic Processes, particularly on the daguerreotype and the wet plate Collodion process. Utilising these past techniques, as his method in a contemporary material studies, it became as a new chapter in his visual journey.
Graduated with an MA in International Contemporary Art and Design Practice from the University of East London and a BA (Hons) in Photography from London College of Printing. He was an award-winning photographer and has been featured in many exhibitions in Malaysia and around the world.
AugustMan Magazine in Malaysia recently awarded him The Men Of The Year 2016, Art Category and he had also won the 2nd Prize in Category D for the Nikon Photo Contest 2014-2015, Japan. He was also one of the finalists for the Asia-Pacific Photobook Award 2015, Australia and Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2014, Hong Kong and he have been nominated three times for the Prix Pictet. The exhibitions that he was involved are ‘After Image: Contemporary Photography From Southeast Asia’, Singapore Art Museum, Singapore; ‘Others & Me: Contemporary Photography Exhibition’, Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah, UAE; and ‘Malaysian Eye’, Whitebox Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Besides his production of photographic work, Chong was highly engaged with the Malaysian photographic community; taking on the role of mentor for the Nikon Shooting Stars programme and Exposure+ Workshop. In addition, he has been appointed to the panel of judges for the Kuala Lumpur Photography Awards 2013 and 2016.
Azrul K. Abdullah
Manages a studio based in Kuala Lumpur specializing in architecture and portraiture. His formative years in photography began as the photo editor at his high school and later college magazine.
He later turned to journalism with a Kuala Lumpur based newspaper as a sub-editor and feature writer/photographer. He later spent time in the world of advertising before returning to photography full-time. He has served as a contract speaker for Apple Malaysia and numerous imaging companies including Nikon, Hasselblad, Leica and Sony.
He has guest lectured at HELP University College, INTI International University, University Malaya, Raffles Design, Malaysian Institute of Art, University Teknologi MARA and Galeri Petronas.
He has also served as a facilitator at Nikon Centre Kuala Lumpur and has been called upon as a judge for numerous photography competitions for various organisations.
He holds a degree from the University of Western Australia and also served as a researcher for the UWA Graduate School of Management in Perth.

Mahfooz Nabi Rasool
Mahfooz NR is a low profiled published photographer, the former editor and one of the pioneers who started CLICK!, a local based digital photography magazine. In his early years, he was a columnist for Photo Asia, a Singapore based regional photography magazine, photojournalist and assigned photographer to International Freelance Photographers Organization (I.F.P.O.), World Wildlife Fund for Nature (W.W.F.) and National Geographic Society (N.G.S.). Some of his very early works has also been published in Fotografik Malaysia magazine and Utusan Melayu/Malaysia newspapers. His works have been showcased in the Islamic Heritage and Culture Exhibitions throughout the world since he was very young. He was also the editor of Camerasia magazine (for Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand editions) and Imaging Channels, a photographic trade magazine meant for the photographic dealers, distributors and manufacturers circulation. He has conducted numerous photography workshops with CLICK! magazine, on his own and also for Nikon Malaysia.
Now he’s in charge of the Nikon Professional Services (NPS), a department providing technical and service support to Nikon professional photographers worldwide, including press/media, commercial, studio, sports, wildlife etc. During his work as the head of NPS, he’s been sent to 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, London2012 Olympic Games and Incheon2014 Asia Games. He’s also conducting extra-oral photography workshops to dental post grad students and practicing dentists since 2010 until now. He has also been involved in outlining the syllabus of photography and multimedia faculties plus being one of the External Assessor and Industry Advisor for UUM and Disted College.
Lim Thian Leong
Lim Thian Leong is a self-taught photographer, independent curator, graphic designer and art writer. His personal photography works have been exhibited in various group shows in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Japan since 2010. He has a personal research interest in the post-independence history of photography in Malaysia and contemporary visual culture. Before joining Nikon Malaysia, he has been involved in organising and curating various art and photography projects for Goethe Institute Malaysia and Nikon Malaysia. He is currently the assistant manager for Nikon Professional Services at Nikon Malaysia.
Kelvin is the Director of an International Advertising Agency studio. Apart from producing images for his clients, he also travels extensively locally and overseas to capture stock images. A Nikon Professional Services (NPS) member he also conducts photography talks and travel workshops. He is a contributing writer and photographer for PCP Publication’s Travelution and Advance Images magazines. He is well versed with Print Production, Photography and Colour Management.
His images of Malaysia’s landmarks, cultures and local events have been featured frequently to promote Tourism Malaysia both locally and abroad. He is also one of the Malaysian photographers whose images are featured in Nikon Asia website.

N Munirah Rohaizan
Originated from Kuala Lumpur, she is a self-taught photographer who discovers photography when she was a business student in Dublin, Ireland and is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a Project Manager for the Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards. She is also part of the committee member and contributor for the KL-Ga.org and was the assistant curator to the MOCA Fest visual art team in conjunction with World Islamic Economy Forum (WIEF) in 2015.
Besides being the forefront in managing the arts, Munirah is actively producing photography works.
Munirah was part of several exhibitions, publications and competition such as Metaphorical Garden Photography Exhibition (2011) - organised by Nikon and Goethe Institute Malaysia, Cityscape blog project (2011) - a collaboration project by Goethe Institute Kuala Lumpur and was published in 'Kuala Lumpur-Berlin, Kisah Dua Bandaraya, Stadtgeschichten', 'Urban Art' Exhibition (2012) - exhibited in Pelita Hati Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, an exhibition on documenting urban living, 'Word n Pics' Exhibition (2012) - won second place in a photography competition organised by Alliance Francaise and the France Embassy, Kuala Lumpur, 'Exposure' (2012) - was published by SeeMe, New York, in their publication 'Exposure', 'Exposure+ Final Debut' Exhibition (2013) - part of a mentoring programme and was exhibited in Galeri Petronas, Kuala Lumpur.
